From Olympic Baseball Player to Master Cigar Roller.
Born in Cuba in Victoria de Las Tunas, Oriente, Manuel Onelio Medina divided his time between his passion for baseball, and his favorite past time; rolling cigars at his friend’s cigar factory. “El pelotero” as he was nicknamed turned out to be an outstanding pitcher, making the Cuban National Team playing at international tournaments among which was the 1967 Olympic Games in Canada where he conquered an Olympic Gold Medal. Back in Cuba, his reputation grew as an expert cigar roller and he was assigned to work at one of the world’s most renowned Cigar Factory: PARTAGAS. A few years later he is sent to represent PARTAGAS for Cuba Tabaco at the european markets. In Europe he works for well known tobacco firms such as Davidoff, and Turcedo in Germany, he also works in France, and Spain. Upon his arrival to Miami, he works for several companies where he sets his profession’s expertise and knowledge was recognized. In 1998 Medina opened his own Cigar factory started to produce highest quality cigars for those who really enjoy a good smoke. Medina today, as he did 35 years ago, hand rolls tobacco the "Old Fashion Way" basing his reputation on a great finish product: A Great Cigar.
